What, no mention of my own personal fav (and inspiration for my entry if I ever get round to writing something) Lady Liandrin? Or the heartbreaking story of Rheastrasza? I am disappoint ;)

If Diablo is your thing perhaps Atma and Fara would be an interesting muse, the former from a 'life after revenge' POV and the later based around her shunning of the Order of Zakarum following corruption in their ranks.

All in all though, an awesome selection. Hopefully they'll help those in need of inspiration :)

I think a lot of women nerds are plagued with a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of mentality. It's possible to like both ASOIAF and purses, Goldeneye 64 and Disney movies. It seems like so many people, including other women, are hellbent on making sure you know they're 'not like other girls' either because they love video games, or because they hate them. While I do not doubt that there are women in the world who read books like Mr. Martin’s, I can honestly say that I have never met a single woman who has stood up in indignation at her book club and refused to read the latest from Lorrie Moore unless everyone agreed to “The Hobbit” first. “Game of Thrones” is boy fiction patronizingly turned out to reach the population’s other half.

This made me shriek "WHAT THE FRAK?!?!" and nearly toss my laptop across the room. Boy fiction. What the frak is "Boy Fiction", anyway? I find the terms 'girl fiction' and 'boy fiction' offensive and needlessly discriminating. I want to slap this reviewer upside the head.

For the record, I haven't bothered to JOIN a book club because they don't tend to read the "boy fiction" I've grown up my entire FEMALE life reading and adoring. I don't think I'm alone in this, by any stretch... something this 'enlightened' reviewer likely didn't bother considering.

I bought GoT a few years back but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I've been reading a lot of Robin McKinley. I like her female characters a lot; they are strong without being hard and they are strong while still being feminine. These qualities are mutually exclusive.

Ahh the Hunger Games - I have Mockingjay waiting patiently on my bookshelf, waiting for the end of exams...

Twilight concerns me only because we have an entire generation of girls reading this and thinking this is normal. Dude - it is not normal to give up EVERYTHING (including your life) for a boy you just met. Hell, I won't even give up my Saturday plans for a boy.
